Ba Be National Park is the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam with exceptional fish diversity, a population of langurs, over 200 bird and 350 butterfly species, geological treasures and mature primary limestone forest. In places like this, careless tourism can bring human disturbances and endanger this heritage, while thoughtful tours with a controlled impact provide excellent support to conservation projects in the area and help the economies of local people. We share your desire for the latter option and promise that nature knows how to return your kindness. Surrounded by the lush green of the forest we hope you enjoy and learn from the time spent with all of our friends there and raise a glass of corn wine with your hosts, toasting to the health of our shared environment.
Departing from Hanoi, we embark on a route up into mountain areas north of Hanoi. On the way we will visit the Thai Nguyen Minority and Culture Museum where we can learn something about the culture and traditions of the different minority groups in Vietnam. We continue onwards to Ba Be National Park, one of the largest natural lakes in Vietnam, home to many kinds of birds, scenic valleys, towering rocky outcrops, underground river tributaries, a gigantic cave and also to local ethnic minorities, including the Tay, Red Dao and Hmong.
Following an exploration of a spectacular cave, we hike around small villages and along the riverfront. The night is spent with a local family in the traditional house of a Tay family to experience their way of life.
After breakfast with a local family you will board our private boat for a trip on the Ba Be Lake. Cruising on Ba Be lake’s green waters you visit the fishermen who work from their dug-out canoes. Passing Peleng corner we will continue to Cam Ha village where you can observe the peaceful life of the Tay people amongst the green rice fields. We will cruise further to Puong Cave, home to thousands of bats before we have a lunch in the local restaurant near the Dau Dang water fall. Coming back to Ba Be lake you will visit An Ma temple where Mac command in chief is commemorated. We will trek through Ba Be rain forests and climb a tower to get the best photos of the Ba Be area. We continue trekking around Pelam bay and back to Pac Ngoi village where most Tay people keep traditional houses. We return to Bo Lu village by for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast we will stroll along the riverfront, visit some lovely villages and hike the upper reaches of the lake, in an area marked by massive limestone cliffs and mountains. Later our car driver will take you to “Dog Flower Pass” then stop so you can take amazing photos of the terraced fields. After lunch in a local restaurant we also pay a visit to the majestic Đền ĐuổmTemple, built during the Ly dynasty to commemorate the national hero Duong Tu Minh. We continue our journey back to Hanoi, arriving there at around 5.30pm..
